Jemmy Best - Principal Director

With over 12 years experience operating small businesses, Jemmy has an excellent understanding of the local economies in both Cairns and Townsville.

Beginning in Cairns in 1996, Jemmy formed a Bookkeeping and Consultancy business. In addition to the bookkeeping business, in mid-2002, Jemmy purchased the Cairns franchise of Oasis Home Loans and predominantly specialised in "Non-Conforming" home loans. She owned this franchise for 15 months before beginning operation as Best Home Loans & Mortgage Services in January 2004. Working from two bedrooms at home with Jade Mulholland, her niece, after twelve months it was necessary to relocate to an established office. A further twelve months later, Best Home Loans moved again to an office in Manoora, Cairns. Sadly due to the Cairns economy, the Cairns Office was closed in January 2010. We still operate a mobile service in the Cairns area.

From the beginning of 2006, Jemmy established a Townsville presence in Greenview Estate at the Mac Homes display home for six months. With the volume of work being generated from Best Home Loans, regrettably Jemmy had to sell the bookkeeping business after ten years, in June 2006. In July 2006, Jemmy moved to Townsville and opened the first Townsville office of Best Home Loans and Jade Mulholland became the Cairns Manager. After eighteen months, Best Home Loans moved again...this time to their current Townsville office in Mundingburra.

Jemmy's success and the success of Best Home Loans can be attributed to her and her staff's many hours of hard work, total commitment to customer service, a passion to achieve client satisfaction, attention to detail and building excellent business associations. In recognition of this high standard, Jemmy was a finalist in Bendigo Bank’s Business Woman of the Year in 2007 and was also nominated for the Cairns Business Woman of the Year consecutively for two years. She has a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking and is also a qualified Financial Planner and a Commissioner of Declarations. Jemmy is a member of the Townsville BNI (Business Networking International) Integrity Chapter, a member of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce and also a member of the Townsville Business Womens Network.

Noel Land - Loans Processor

Noel commenced employment with Best Home Loans in February, 2008 as a loans processor. Previously employed in the finance industry and with over 35 years continued service with Westpac Bank, he left as a Bank Manager. His career in the banking industry commenced in Townsville and from this initial appointment is now proving of great benefit to the ongoing success of Best Home Loans business.

During his time with Best Home Loans he has completed his Certificate IV in Finance/Mortgage Broking.

Like all Best Home Loans staff, Noel has a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard of customer service and being able to help all clients achieve their goals. This attitude complements the core of the Best Home Loans philosophy.

Jeanie Mills - Mortgage Broker

Jeanie began her association with Best Home Loans as a client of Jade Mulholland from the Cairns office. Involved with the Hospitality Industry prior to 2006, she changed career direction and became involved with small scale property development where the challenges faced by mortgage brokers she had encountered further sparked an interest in property and finance, that she too decided to become a broker.

Completing a Certificate IV in Financial Services through Bankstown College (TAFE NSW), she then successfully completed the MFAA Compliance Pack, is now a member of COSL, ASIC and MFAA and a Credit representative for I-Financial.

With Jemmy as her mentor, Jeanie is looking forward to being a successful broker in an ever-changing industry, by always overcoming the challenges presented to her. Based in Sexton (near Gympie), Jeanie invites calls to her mobile from those in the Wide Bay/Burnett region seeking mortgage-broking asssistance.

Mark Batchelor - Mortgage Broker

Mark commenced employment with Best Home Loans in August 2011 as a Mortgage Consultant. Previously employed in the finance industry since 1983, but more recently with National Australia Bank for the last 12 years, where he left as a Branch Manager to join our team. Mark has a vast amount of experience in lending and is looking forward to assisting as many clients as he can.

Currently Mark has just finished his studies to complete a Diploma in Financial Services and Mortgage Broking.

Mark prides himself on his level of service to clients and assisting them to achieve their goals and financial objectives.

Carissa Starcevich - Admin/Loans Processor

Carissa has been employed by Best Home Loans as a Loans Processor since January 2011. After completing Year 12, she was employed by a local finance broker for two and a half years and it was here that she was introduced to the finance industry.

Unsure if this was the career path she wished to follow, Carissa ventured into the Medical industry to gain further knowledge and experience. However, the passion she had for the finance industry drew Carissa back, so that when a position was offered to her, Carissa seized the opportunity to work with Jemmy and the Best Home Loans team.

With her drive and determination and her flair for customer care, it will only be a matter of time that Carissa will fulfil her ambition to be a fully fledged Mortgage Broker.
